Cedar shakes can withstand up to 245 mph in wind speed, and extreme heat or cold. They are a renewable resource as well, which is environment friendly.

Again, underlayment is crucial with the installation of cedar shakes. Ice and water protector is generally installed on the first three feet and up the valley locations. A breather material is installed on the roof deck to ensure proper breathing of the roof. Felt paper is installed between every course of cedar to further protect the roof.

Slate Roofing
